“The Scots were the greatest stonemasons in the world,”
So much so that in the early 1790s a group of 12 men, including the John & James Williamson left from Edinburgh to build a house in America. That house turned out to be the most famous of them all, the Whitehouse. The Edinburgh Townhouse was also very fortunate to have been built by the same men and is situated in the heart of Edinburgh New Town, giving you an authentic feel of Scottish heritage and legacy when you stay here.
Famous Sons of Edinburgh
Not only does our accommodation give you the authentic Edinburgh feel, the surrounding areas and streets to our Townhouse are littered with places connected to Scotlands most important and famous people throughout our history, men we like to call “The Famous Sons of Edinburgh.”
Sir Walter Scott stayed in the same street as ours, Robert Louis Stevenson was born here, as well as Alexander Graham Bell the inventor of the telephone and many more. If your travelling to and visiting Scotland, you won’t find a better location and building to experience the rich heritage of Edinburgh…we even have a view of the castle!
